Weapons
Selection
Proper
weapon selection is a habit every player should get into.
So instead of switching weapons on a constant linear basis,
it’s always best to select a weapon from a single key or a mouse
button. There is an infinite amount of set ups that one can employ,
so play around and experiment. Just
remember that employing a smooth weapon transition will help a player
focus more on the actual game play itself.
The weapons can be configured in the OPTIONS
- > PREFERENCES menu.
Heads
Up Display (HUD)
The
heads up display is a graphical interface that keeps track of many
statistical functions during a game like health, kills, ammo…etc.
But at the same time it has the potential to become a distraction
by having too many graphical anomalies on the screen.
This is a definite no-no for most hard-core aficionados, so
please keep the interface clean and light in order to gain a clear line
of sight. The HUD can
be configured in the OPTIONS -
> PREFERENCES menu.
Player
Setup
Configuring
the name and class of your player is done under the OPTIONS -
> PLAYER SETUP menu. A
lot of the top players on the net use the female character classes
because their smaller frame makes them harder to aim at.
Picking the proper player setup is entirely dependent of your
playing style, so find one that suits your needs.
Try staying away from bright color selections; unless you like
standing out from the crowd..
Player Smarts
Player
smarts is a subject no one can possibly teach with 100% effectiveness. Only through a combination of natural ability and practice
can this skill be properly developed and molded.
Here is some advice can help you down the road to GOD-LIKE
status.
-
Know
the Maps – Knowing the full layout of the map will help any
player become more adept their surroundings.
Proper knowledge of item and weapon placement will help in
the development of player smart.
-
Stay
away from crowded situations – Everyone hates getting shot in
the back. In fact, this
is a common sight to see in situations involving two or more
players. Try to keep a distance and attack from an area that
minimizes being blindsided.
-
Suicide
– Like in real life, suicide can also become a problem in Unreal
Tournament. Getting
injured or killed by your own weapon blast is something that should
be prevented. Think
smart when shooting with explosive projectiles.
You don’t want to feel stupid in the end.
