It
was the morning of Wednesday (May 24, 2000) when the e-mails were
massively sent by Blizzard to the lucky gamers that were chosen to
participate and have the honor of playing one of the most anticipated
games of 2000, Diablo 2. Out
of all the gamers around the world only 100,000 of them were privileged to play the beta version of Diablo 2 on battle.net's servers.
The e-mail sent had a sweet subject "Welcome to the Diablo
II Stress Test" and it goes like.
"Congratulations!
You have been selected as one of Blizzard's Battle.net stress test beta
participants. This email contains both the ZDNet GameSpot/LaunchPad URL
for downloading the beta and your personal access code for installing
the beta. Please save this email for future reference. A complete
read.me file is included with the beta that will outline instructions
for logging onto Battle.net and playing the beta.
Your
access code is: 8VHD-*****-*****
The
Beta can only be accessed on Battle.net's servers (which are located in
North America, Europe and Asia) and had the Barbarian as the only
character who can be used. The
beta is very limited and unlike the closed beta, that occurred earlier,
the stress test contains only 2 quests.
The boss enemy of the stress test is Blood Raven, which could
easily be defeated. I only wished they have included more on the stress test to
really stress the hell out of their servers.
The areas included in the stress test were from Act 1 namely: The
Rogue Encampment, The Den of Evil, The Blood Moor, The Cold Plains, The
Cave, The Burial Grounds, and The Crypt.
The NPCs included were Charsi, Gheed, Kashya, Akara and Warriv.
The beta testing, as stated in the e-mail, will be over in a
couple of weeks. Oh by the
way, the access code I provided up there is a fake one... =P
The
following screenshots were snagged from Diablo 2 Beta/Stress Test,
Blizzard's latest cash cow that is soon to hit the market:
Talk
about it at The
Game Den Forum.
