The First Byte:

Okay!  I admit it…  I’m a bit behind the power curve with my Ratpadz review.  No bull… I’ve had this (and have been using it) for more than a few weeks.  When I first opened my package and saw the Ratpad for the very first time, I muttered, “Wow!  I’m in for a treat!”  It was about twice as large as any mousing surface I’ve ever used before and the rigid plastic construction was just as unique.  Now, we all know that there was a bit of controversy regarding the similarities between the “Everglide” and “Ratpad.”  I’m not going to get into that at all because I haven’t had the opportunity to use any Everglide products and I seriously doubt that you’d get me to part with my Ratpad now.  I’ll just focus on my experience with the Ratpad over the past few weeks.  So, now just grab a seat, sit back, and enjoy the ride!

Key Feature :

I’m going to hit on the four most striking attributes that I found with the Ratpad: First… The Ratpad has an incredible surface called Ultraslick™.  The odd thing about the mousing surface is that it has a grainy texture that gives you the impression that the mouse will just drag across it.  It has a remarkable visible resemblance to something we called “non-skid” in the Navy which is used on the walking surfaces of ships to keep people from busting their asses.  But, instead of dragging across the surface I immediately found that my mouse glided across as if it was hovering above it (no more dragging across cloth for me!).  Next… This thing is huge!  It measures in at a stout 9.5” x 11.5”.  No more worrying about running out of room to move left and right because your mouse pad is too narrow.  Also… The Ratpad has beveled edges all around it’s perimeter as a comfort benefit for your wrists which reduces strain and fatigue. And last but not least…The Ratpad’s cutaway arched bottom section spans the entire width of it.   This allows you to comfortably use the entire surface of the Ratpad which in turn gives you an extended range of motion.
