The Birth of a Clan

In The Beginning...

FMforum.jpg (143038 bytes)Setting up a clan can be easy as 1 2 3, but your success is dependant on the hard work of core members.   Fading Mirage has a great bunch of guys who actively recruit and keeps tab on one another.   We also have an active webmaster who keeps our website updated and fresh.  The forums are there to help each other out when it comes to news, practices and events.  Keeping in constant communication with everyone ensures that our Clan thrives well into the future.  How serious do you want your clan to be?   Remember, its all about having fun with your buddies and friends....unless you want play for money and fame!

So you want to join a clan? But can't find one?  locating a clan on the internet is not hard at all.  Just go to any search engine and you'll most likely find hundreds of clans related to any game or genre.

fm_logo.gif (259539 bytes)Fading Mirage is not considered a newbie clan.  We consist of veteran Unreal players who simply play for love of the game.  Started by my buddy Vegeta, Fading Mirage has been able to attract players from all walks of life.  In fact, the ages of our members range from 15 to 25 years old with various demographics and backgrounds.

Competition

Clans exist due to our competitive nature as individuals.  Lets again take a peek at the dictionary to dig deep into the meaning of competition:

As human beings, we thrive on our completive juices to get us going.   Everyone loves the thrill of victory, but loathes over the acceptance of defeat.  Most of us strive to do the best we can, given our talent, time and resources that's available to us.  This attitude is not only prevalent in everyday life, but to gaming as well.  As far Ecological reasons are concerned, I'll leave that for the men in white suits.  :-)

The Rush

Defend The Flag!  Enemy Carrier is Here!  I'm Hit!

Imagine that your defense is outnumbered and the enemy is approaching,  what's there to do?   Do you run?  Do you hide?  Dire the task may be, its the moment and the adrenaline rush that gets you  going.  Furthermore, this is when teamwork gets into play.

Communicative aspects of any organized team play event has always been the key determinant in any teams success.  Without the proper verbal communication with other team members, you will face the same situations similar to that of the Alamo.  Communication is half of the fun, executing orders and accomplishing them is another thing.

The Ensuing Battle

The "Facing Worlds Map" in Unreal Tournament is a very popular CTF map that offers great views, and stunning graphics.  Your outside in the coldness of space, standing atop an asteroid gripped by Earth's orbit.  The rotation of the Earth is dizzying and immaculate, its a lonely place, and your clan is readily hardened for the upcoming battle that awaits.  There are two fortresses immense in their size, one of them you defend, and the other you will conquer    The battle field is large in size, you can see the enemy coming a mile away.    Setting a defensive barrier and denying the enemy from penetrating is a task so daunting, that you may need over half of your squad just to defend it.

Your offensive and defensive strategies are set  The battle begins.  You stand atop of the fortress with your sniper rifle in handy.  You feel and hear the bloodshed down below as your Clan tries to penetrate the opposing defenses.  You grip your rifle steadily, as you anticipate the next move.  Your team relies on your defense and cunning ability to snipe.   Incoming!!!  You see a wave of incoming forces coming round the hill, ready to take your flag.    Now its up to you to put a stop to them, can you do it?

Its All About Having Fun

In the end it doesn't matter who really wins because its all about the experience,  the aspect of team work, and its execution.  The ability to get a bunch of friends and comrades together to play a team game on the internet is an accomplishment in itself. Taking them to the next level of competitiveness will require a combination of practice and timing.

Playing with an organized group of people will enhance the of your online experience and further the lifespan of the games you play.  Plus, playing single player games on the internet can be boring and repetitive sometimes.  With more and more team based games coming out this year, the formation of clans and groups will ensure that the gaming community thrives with competition.
